The South-West Security Network codenamed Amotekun Corps in Osun State have announced the arrest of suspected criminals creating crisis in Osogbo by its patrol team on Wednesday, 24 February, 2021.
The criminals who were caught at different locations in Osogbo have dangerous weapons such as axes, guns, charms in their possession. There was rivalry clash between two cult groups: Aiye and Eiye confraternities.
The Field Commander of Amotekun Corps in the State of Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, who disclosed this while speaking with newsmen in Osogbo, the state capital, said all arrested criminals were arrested at different locations in Osogbo and had dangerous weapons in their possession and they have being handed over to appropriate security agencies for comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
“We started 24hrs patrol when there was an upsurge in criminal activities in the state capital,” he said.
He further stated that they started the operation on Monday, 22 February, 2021 when the crisis erupted in the state capital and that led to the arrest of the hoodlums.
” You will recalled that crisis erupted in Osogbo on Monday, 22 March, 2021 at different locations in Osogbo, areas like: Idi-Omo, Oke-baale, Isale-osun, Oja-Oba which make the Amotekun Corps through the directives of the Field Commander of the corps in the State of Osun to swung into 24hrs patrol across the nook and cranny of the state capital,” Amitolu said.
