The National Association of Local Government Education Secretaries of Nigeria (NAESN) held its 28th Annual Conference in Lagos on Tuesday, 18 May, 2021.
The conference was hosted by the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board (LASUBEB) at its Maryland, Ikeja, Lagos Secretariat.
Speaking during the opening ceremony, the LASUBEB Chairman, Honourable Wahab Alawiye-King praised the orgainsers of the programme.

He reeled out the achievements of the Board since he took over prominent of which is the EKOEXCEL programme which introduced new training programme for teachers in public primary schools in the state to update their knowledge in digital teaching and make them conform with modern teaching methods.
The Board recently concluded the Second Phase of EKOEXCEL teachers training at Vetland Primary School, Ifako Ijaye LGEA and CMS Primary School, Shomolu LGEA, bringing a total number of teachers trained under the EKOEXCEL initiative to 8,986 across 75% of public primary schools in the state.
“During the dark phase of the Coronavirus pandemic last year when schools were shut, the board launched Classroom in Your Home programme which provided remote education to children at home via Lagos Television (LTV8) and Radio Lagos.
“And following the end of the lockdown period, Project Zero (Zero Tolerance for out of school children) was launched to track and bring back out of school children and pupils who are on verge of discontinuing their education due to the socio-economic impacts of pandemic,” Alawiye-King said.
The event was attended by representatives from various NAESN chapters from different states of Nigeria, including Abia, Delta, Federal Capital Territory Abuja, Kogi and Osun, among others.
Awards of Excellence were later presented to Alawiye-King; the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu; the Minister of Education, Alhaji Adamu Adamu; the Guest Speaker and member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Honourable Oluyinka Ogundimu; and the National President of All Local Government of Nigeria (ALGON) and Chairman of Bariga Local Council Development Area, Kolade David Alabi.
