Friends of the Lead Visioner of Lagos4Lagos movement, Dr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, have launched a crowd funding, Lagos4UNDLagos to attract the support of well meaning Lagosians for his 2023 governorship ambition.
Speaking at a press conference in Lagos on Tuesday, 22 June, 2021, the Director of Media and Strategy, Mr. Seun Soyinka, said the time has come to free the state from the choking stranglehold of a godfather who has dominated the state since 1999.
Soyinka maintained that since he joined the Movement six years ago, the group has continued to trudge on in spite of victimization of its members across the 20 local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas of the state.
“Our members have been made to face series of persecution, but they remained undaunted. Some of them have been suspended in the LCDAs for belonging to Lagos4Lagos Movement, while those who aspire to contest the primaries of the just concluded local government election were denied after the payment for nomination forms and all prescribed fees.
“We have despot, autocrat masquerading as democrat. So, we are saying ‘enough is enough’.
“Despite increment in the nomination forms of the local governments election from N550,000 to N2million for chairmen and N500,000 for councilors, on the day of election, violence was orchestrated to frustrate genuine aspirants. Few days after no result was announced, but LASIEC forms were given to the favorites of the godfather. There can be no results because there was no election.
“The Lead Visioner has said he would rather seek the support of all Lagosians than seeking for the blessings of an individual who has been managing the affairs of the state in the last 22 years without commensurate development.
“We want to leverage on crowdfunding where by we get the buying-in of all Lagosians to contribute and support the governorship project and own it. We are returning power to the people in word and indeed.
“For the past 22 years in Lagos, a single individual has bankrolled and controlled everything to the detriment and development of Lagos. Let Lagos Fund Lagos. It’s time!’ He said.
Other leaders at the event were: Principal Coordinator of Lagos4Lagos, Hon. Bode Makinde; the Central Coordinator, Funke Ijaiyekunle; A technologist, Pius Semaya; and an IT expert, Detola Osundiran amongst others.
