Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, has declared Monday, 9 August, 2021 as a public holiday in commemoration of Hijrah, 1443 AH.
The state Commissioner for Home Affair, Mr Tajudeen Lawal, while speaking on behalf of the Governor on Friday, 6 August, 2021 enjoined the people of the State to use the period of the holiday to pray for the growth and development of the State and Nigeria.
The Gazelle News.com reports that Osun State pioneered the declaration of Hijrah holiday for its citizens in the present political dispensation.
The former Governor of the State, Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola pioneered the declaration of Hijrah holiday in the state.
