Members of the Legislative House of Oshodi isolo Local Government have commended the Chairman of the Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almoroof Oloyede for his proactive approach to governance, especially the recently held empowerment programmes where GCE forms were distributed to indigent students, cash donation to widows and food packages for old men and women.
The commendation was given by the legislators through a motion moved by the Majority Leader of the House, Hon Azeez Jayeola from Igbehinadun Ward, while the motion was supported by the Deputy Leader, Hon Wasiu Femi Mustapha from Shogunle Ward and unanimously endorsed by the whole House.
Speaking with the media after plenary, the Leader of the House, Hon. Rasheed Adeshina Obasa said in his over 20 years of active political participation, he has not witnessed such a benevolence from an elected officer.
He praised the Chairman for the gesture and assured that the Legislative House will always support the Chairman by speedy approval to his people oriented bills.
He said the legislators will complement the efforts of the Council Boss so that the people of Oshodi will benefit immensely from good governance projects of the chairman.
According to him, “we unanimously adopted the motion to show that we are happy with the programmes of Chairman, especially the recent empowerment, within three weeks of assumption of office. I have not seen such magnanimity in my 29 years of active political engagement.This is to assure the people of Oshodi Isolo that we shall continue to support the chairman to achieve his aim for good governance and to make life bearable for the generality of our people”.
In a brief chat with the Majority Leader, Hon. Azeez Jayeola, he disclosed that he was moved by the empathy shown by the Chairman, who less than a month in office, has started on a commendable note with the recent empowerment programme, stressing that with that he has shown commitment to the people who elected him and definitely he will deliver on his electioneering promises.
In his words, “I was moved by the promptness of the chairman in having a laudable program like the empowerment that he had few weeks into his administration. As a legislator, I was marvelled by the action of the Chairman, thus the moving of that motion. From the unanimous adoption of the motion, it’s very clear that all legislators are on the same page with Mr Chairman and will support him at all times”.
All the legislators present were full of praises for the Chairman for the gesture and said the idea of a commendation letter is to encourage him to do more for the people.
