The Administrative Staff College of Nigeria (ASCON), Badagry has entered into a strategic mobility partnership agreement with the Lagos State Ferry Services (LAGFERRY) which will see staffs, clients and visitors ferried through the waterways by LAGFERRY boats to the Institute from the Mile 2 Terminal.
This is part of efforts to revamp the college which has in recent times witnessed a down turn in patronage due to the on-going road rehabilitation along the Badagry Expressway. The road rehabilitation has made the road leading to the Institution impassable creating untold hardship to commuters and discouraging clients, who are mostly from outside Lagos, to participate in courses at the foremost Training Institution of the federal government.
The College whose mandates are to, among others provide residential and non-residential qualitative management training for the development of senior executives for public and private sectors of the Nigerian economy is strategically located at Topo – Badagry, Lagos West and surrounded by water which makes it easily accessible through boats.
Journey to Badagry via the waterways will eliminate loss of productive hours in traffic hence the need to embrace water transportation.
LAGFERRY boasting of 20 state of the art boats which regularly navigates through the waterways from over 16 Terminals/Jetties among which are: the Five Cowries Terminal, Falomo-Ikoyi; CMS/Marina Terminal; Elegbata Jetty, Ebute Ero; Apapa Liverpool Jetty; Mile 2 Terminal; Ijede Terminal; Ebute-Ojo Terminal; Badore Terminal, Ajah; Ipakodo Terminal, Ikorodu; Bayeku Jetty, Igbogbo-Bayeku; Bariga Waterfront Terminal, Ilaje Bariga; Aiyetoro Jetty, Epe; Igbo-Olomi Jetty, Ibeju-Lekki etc is poised to assist the college in returning it to its old glory.
It is noteworthy to state that every LAGFERRY boat is built to world class standard, equipped with modern safety gadgets and standard life jackets compulsorily worn by all passengers and crew, online real time GPS tracking to ensure security of boat and passengers, comfortability on board with free internet Wi-Fi, USB charging points, visual entertainment, well trained and certified captains and deckhands, and Insurance cover for all passengers on every trips.
The strategic mobility partnership will be enormously beneficial as it will make the college easily accessible through the waterways by staffs, clients and visitors making use of LAGFERRY boats from across the numerous terminals/jetties mentioned above.
