A pro-democracy organization, the Youth Advocacy Initiative (YAI), has expressed confidence in the former Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola (SAN), that, since he has said he has a political structure of his own, his words can be taken to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Convener of the group, Comrade Adekunle Akinde in a chat with a group of reporters in Lagos early Wednesday, wondered how anybody under the sun in today’s Nigeria would believe that the Minister of Works and Housing would be so naïve that he would not be smart enough to have been nurturing a formidable political structure with all his experience in governance!
According to him, the maturity and humility the athletically fit lanky Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), is exhibiting in his way of doing things should not be mistaken for naivety, pointing out that, in his character, fixing eyes on the ball without giving rooms for any form of detraction has been his joker for excellent performance.
Akinde disclosed that, “we have been monitoring Fashola since when he was the Chief of Staff to Governor Bola Tinubu and we knew that, if he continued that way, the sky would be too low to be his limit,” saying, “with how he has been ascending the ladder of leadership, we have been soundly proved right.”
The youth leader was reacting on a recent report by The Gazelle News.com where Fashola was quoted as saying, “I’ve My Own Political Structure, Only I Know My Structure,” as a response to the This Day editors’ question about why he did not have his own political structure in the state he governed with so much success for eight years which has kept his popularity soaring to the national level.
He was quoted as confirming thus, “Structure? I have my own structure. That’s all. Only I, know my structure,” thereby puncturing the general belief in political circle in the state that the Minister, a very popular figure in the state as a result of his successful eight year reign in the state, did not have a political structure but only busy himself with administering the state.
Akinde also expressed surprise that, with Fashola’s teeming followership within and outside Nigeria, some people are still believing that, even if he does not have a standing structure now, how many days would it take him to organize a formidable one, asserting that, a lot of people, mostly youth are looking forward to working with/for him any time any day he decides to unveil his structure to the public.
