Another empowerment programme from the member of the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke, has delivered 185 fishery operators in Lagos.
The 185 beneficiaries went through one week training in Aquaculture Value Chain Business opportunities and Cost-effective Fish Feed Formulation which took place at the Lagos Airport Hotel.
The focus of the training programme is for youths and women.
At the end of the training exercise, the 185 beneficiaries were given tools of their trade as well as N124, 000 each to start off their business. They were also presented with certificates.
The training was coordinated by the National Institute for Fish Farming Research (NIFFR).
Speaking at the graduation ceremony, Honourable Faleke stated that his main priority is to put in place programmes that will alleviate poverty and reduce unemployment.
“One of the most effective ways to reduce poverty and unemployment is through training and empowerment programmes,” Faleke who was represented at the event by Dally Adedokun said.
According to him, it is his desire to ensure that many Lagosians become employers of Labour through the training and empowerment programmes.
Also speaking at the event, the Chairman of NIFFR, Alhaji Mutiu Lawal-Are, commended Honourable Faleke for his impactful representation at the National Assembly.
“This is very impactful and I must commend the Lawmaker for this laudable initiative. It is one of the most effective ways of not only reducing poverty but also reducing unemployment,” he said.
Lawal-Are advised beneficiaries to make judicious use of the opportunity by managing their businesses effectively and efficiently.
