Former Chairman of Mosan-Okunola Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaji Abdur Rasheed Abiodun Mafe has stated that the need to balance the political equation in the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the Alimoso Federal Constituency was the major reason he opted to run for one of the Lagos Assembly seats in the Constituency.
Mafe had earlier indicated his intention to run for the House of Representatives seat in the Federal Constituency, had even collected his nomination forms but had to redirect his aspiration for the House of Assembly seat.
But in an exclusive Interview with thegazellenews.com, Mafe said there is need for balance of political equation in the Federal Constituency to reflect the political reality on ground.
“Yes, I’ve collected my nomination forms for the House of Representatives and there is no doubt about it that I’m one of the strongest aspirants, but I’ve to shelve my ambition for House of Representatives to face the political reality on ground,” the former Mosan-Okunola LCDA said.
According to him, there are two state constituencies and elective and appointed offices are based on rotation.
He explained that the Lagos West Senatorial District ticket has probably been zoned to Constituency One with Princess Adejoke Orelope-Adefulire the main contender.
“Because of that, for political expediency, it is expected that the House of Representatives ticket will go to Constituency 2. That’s the major reason I’ve to take a U-turn and run for the House of Assembly in Constituency I,” Mafe explained.
