The Chief of Staff to Oyo State Governor, Otunba Segun Ogunwuyi, has commended the efforts of a support group, Young Appointees for Seyi Makinde’s Re-election (YASR) for actively engaging in initiatives aimed at re-electing Governor Makinde in 2023.
Ogunwuyi, who gave the commendation on Tuesday, 23 August, 2022 during a courtesy visit to his office by the group to intimate him on its programme and agenda, noted that the team should not rest on its oars but remain committed in its continuous efforts at propagating the gospel of the current administration.
While noting that the Makinde led-administration had made tremendous marks in youth engagement through his youth-friendly programmes, he urged the young appointees to also co-opt critical stakeholders at the local government areas and different wards across the state to achieve the reelection bid.
He similarly hailed the free medical outreach initiative, which the group is planning to hold on Saturday 27th, and affirmed readiness to give needed support, with a view to actualizing its mission, adding that “it is our collective responsibility to rally support for GSM.”
He said: “I am very happy to receive you all today and I can tell you that what you are doing is very commendable. We are all aware our governor is doing well and we must not stop promoting the good news. All I stand for is GSM and the PDP.
“You are doing your best as young appointees of this government by coming up with an initiative like this but do not relent. Don’t concentrate on yourselves alone at this level but see how you can reach out to those at the grassroots level. You have PDP members at the local government and at wards. Try to penetrate all the levels and by doing that, you will be surprised by the number of votes we will get in 2023.
“Personally, I appreciate what your group stands for, which is the reelection of the governor. And for the programme you are planning to hold – the free mega outreach, I will give my support as we are all in this together.”
Similarly, the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs Olubamiwo Adeosun and the state Head of Service, Mrs Ololade Agboola, who also received the group during a brief visit to their different offices, lauded YASR’s zeal and great show of support for the reelection bid of the governor.
In their separate remarks, they assured their offices would always be willing to render assistance to the group anytime in need to effectively carry out its lined-up programmes.
“It is not common to have people within your age group come together for a thing like this. It is really commendable. Maybe you are copying our leader, GSM in terms of service delivery.
“With this initiative, you are supporting the governor and supporting yourselves as well. I must salute you for receiving salary and making an impact. You are building a future for yourselves. So, thank you for recognising what the governor is doing.
“As civil servants, we appreciate him and once we see people like you supporting him, we try to join.
“I want to assure you that I will always be of support to your course. I will be available because we all have the goal of re-electing the governor come 2023,” Agboola admitted.
