How time flies as the Opeluwa Onido of Lagos, High Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose’s 25th year coronation Anniversary celebration began on Wednesday, 2 November, 2022 with a prayer session by Islamic clerics at the palace of Opeluwa Onido of Lagos at Ilogbo,Apapa Road, Lagos.
The reign of High Chief Lateef Aderibigbe Ajose as the Opeluwa of Lagos started on 2 November, 1997 when he was formally crowned by then Oba of Lagos, Oba Adeyinka Oyekan of blessed memory.
This traditional title is so significant in Lagos as he’s the Head of Lagos White Cap Chiefs (Olori Ogalade cum Olori Oloye of Lagos) hence, you will agree that the 25th year coronation anniversary is worthy of a grand celebration.
The Planning Committee of the 25th Year Coronation Anniversary of the Opeluwa Onido of Lagos comprising of top professionals, businessmen and versatile civil servants is headed by Otunba Adedapo Alli-Balogun and have duly mapped out interesting activities and programmes to honour and celebrate an High Chief whom many noted is accommodating and amazing personality with milk of human kindness flowing in his royal veins and to also ensure a hitch free celebration.
Other activities that will come up include: on Sunday, 6 November, 2022, WORO procession from Apapa Road to some palaces and back to the palace of the Opeluwa Onido of Lagos while there will be a visit to the orphanage on Saturday, 12 November, 2022.
Football tournament will commence from Saturday, 12 November, 2022 at the Ojoniyun Playing Ground. Table Tennis tournament will hold between Saturday, 12 November, 2022 and Saturday, 19 November, 2022 at the frontage of Opeluwa’s palace. There will also be a visit to Iddo Olofin and a medical outreach on Sunday, 13 November, 2022 and Sunday, 20 November, 2022 respectively.
A special jumat service will take place on Friday, 25 November, 2022 at the Ebute Metta Central Mosque by 1pm while traditional prayer will also take place later on the same day at the Elegba Conclave at Ilogbo, Apapa Road,Lagos.
The Grand finale is slated for Sunday, 27 November, 2022 at the National Stadium, Surulere, Lagos with a popular Fuji Artste to be on the bandstand.
