Ahead of the forth coming elections next year, Rotary club has admonished Nigerian youths to participate more in politics by joining political parties and getting their Permanent Voters Card, PVC.
The newly-inducted President, Mr. Femi Emmanuel disclosed this at the 3rd investiture of the Rotary club Mende-Mid town, Lagos.
Emmanuel urged the youths to think logically and avoid being used as tools for political violence.
Emmanuel also noted that if Nigerians can learn leadership from Rotary,the country will be better off.
The newly inducted president revealed that his team are organizing laugh for Charity to put smile on the faces of people on the streets during the yuletide.
He also disclosed that the organization has plan to build a toilet in one of the public schools in Lagos as part of it’s projects.
The District Governor, Omotunde Lawson, while conducting the swearing-in said the youths who constitute the majority of the members of rotary club of mende are very creative, resourceful and also charitable.
Speaking with newsmen,Lawson also stressed the need to vote right in the coming elections.
According to her, Rotary International is non-partisan in its utterances and activities. But there is need for Nigerians to vote right in order to usher in a better country come 2023 general elections.
She disclosed that a program, Play for Peace will hold at the Police College, Ikeja where all political parties will be invited to chart discourse for the coming elections.
The keynote speaker, Mr Wisdom Ezekiel while speaking on the state of the nation harped on collaboration among citizens in order to build a strong, vibrant and economically stable Nigeria.
He noted every citizen has a role to play in getting Nigeria to where it ought to be.
