The All Progressives Congress (APC), Ojo Federal Constituency Campaign Council remained consistent in its engagement and interaction with relevant stakeholders in its bid to showcase its candidates for the February 25 and March 11 elections.
On Tuesday, 24 January, 2023, the Campaign Council met with the leadership of Lagos State Council of Tradesman and Artisans (LASCOTA) in Ojo Local Government Area Chapter, as well as party stakeholders in Ajangbadi (Ward C).
Ojo Multipurpose Hall, venue of the meeting with LASCOTA was filled to the brim, while Hon. Rosulu Olusola Idowu, Director General, of the Campaign Council expressed happiness at the huge turn out for the meeting.
He charged LASCOTA members: “You are expected as an arm of APC to build on the existing, but harmonious relationship with the party. You are expected to go all out to mobilize family members, friends, customers and well-wishers to vote for all candidates of APC in the coming elections”.
Speaking further, he urged LASCOTA members to mobilise and vote for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu as President of Nigeria, return Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Governor of Lagos and other APC candidates. He added that Asiwaju is responsible for the advancement of participatory democracy in Lagos State, and the large scale infrastructural development being witnessed in the state.
The DG also submitted that APC is the only party that can advance meaningful development; so members of LASCOTA should shun the ugly antics of the opposition who have occupied the House of Representatives seat for nearly eight years with nothing to show for it. He reassured the body that the party, with its credible candidates would turn the fortune of the country around, when voted for.
The party’s candidates who spoke at the event one after the other encouraged members of the association who are yet to get their PVCs to do so. They pledged to formulate policies that would improve thier businesses and provide necessary empowerment and support.
The trio of Comrade Olusegun Adebisi Ege of Ojo State Constituency I, Hon. Surajudeen Olatunji Tijani (Emir) candidate for Ojo State Constituency II and Hon. Michael Olarenwaju Ogunyemi (HLO), Ojo Federal Constituency APC Candidate for House of Representatives, further advised the audience to vote out the incompetent opposition presently representing Ojo Federal Constituency, who appears and disappears every four years.
Mr Adewale Yusuf Bashir, Chairman of LASCOTA in Ojo Local Government stated unequivocally that the association needs no invitation because the party has been of tremendous assistance in terms of material and financial empowerment at the Local, State and Senatorial levels. He said the body’s agenda is to make sure that APC smiles after the general elections.
Secretary to the Campaign Council, Bar. Tunde Lawal appreciated the body and assured them of more support from the APC.
At the second event held at Ajangbadi Town Hall, the leaders and members of Ward C came out en masse to welcome the Campaign Council. Hon. Yisa Jubril, Chairman of Iba LCDA, a member of the Campaign Council appreciated the turn up stating that the party’s leadership is indeed elated with their support.
The Campaign Council DG reiterated that it is payback time for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who has tremendous achievements to his name. He implored them to educate residents of the Ward by telling them the travails, achievements and contributions of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu while he was the Governor of Lagos State.
His words, “he created and provided thousands of jobs opportunities, through the novel agencies he created to address ease of transportation, waste management, and security and safety of residents of Lagos. It is only wise to harness all resources to advance a resounding win for him”.
The party’s candidates also corroborated the earlier speakers by appreciating the people of Ward C, urging them to vote for APC.
Hon. Lanre Ogunyemi spoke on his regular empowerment programmes as the representative of the people of Ojo State Constituency II when he served in the House of Assembly He pledged to do more if and when elected on Saturday, 25 February, 2023.
Hon. Surajudeen stated that intelligent, versatile and experienced hands are needed to represent the party at both the national and State Assembly. The people of Ward C were therefore challenged to speak with their votes so as to attract requisite development and empowerment.
Hon Saheed Barry and Alhaji Gagare who spoke on behalf of the Ward assured the Campaign Council that there is no cause for alarm; promising to work for the victory of the party in the elections.
Party stalwarts present at the event were: Apex Leader of Ojo Federal Constituency, Alhaji R.O Olorunfunmi; Director General of the Campaign Council, Hon. Rosulu Idowu; Hon. Yisa Jubril, Council Chairman Iba LCDA; party chairmen and LGA Women Leaders of Ojo, Iba and Oto Awori; Barrister Akinsanya; Hon Sadiq Abayomi; serving and former political office holders among others.
