The Chairman of Ward E branch of the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Ifako-Ijaye Local Government Area of Lagos State, Akin Aderinoye narrowly escaped death on Saturday, 18 March, 2023, when some aggrieved members of the party threatened to set him ablaze over alleged misappropriation of fund meant for payment of party agents and canvassers.
One of the canvassers who spoke with thegazellenews.com stated that Aderinoye has refused to pay them despite having collected their money from the leadership of the party at the state level.
“He has been dodging us since Tuesday that the money has been paid to him. He refused to pay us,” one of the canvassers said.
The aggrieved agents laid ambush for Aderinoye at his office in Anjorin Street in Iju area of the local government and were about descending on him when Temitope Adewale, a member of the state House of Assembly came with some policemen to rescue him and took him away.
Investigation by thegazellenews.com revealed that Aderinoye was allegedly paid N4 million cash for the purpose of paying the agents and the canvassers.
He was alleged to have saved the money in his bank account despite being paid in cash to engender smooth payment of the agents and canvassers.
