Better days are here for members of staff of the Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area of Lagos State as the administration of Mayor Dele Osinowo has commenced distribution of relief packages to them to ease the challenges brought about by the removal of petroleum subsidy by the Federal Government.
On Wednesday, 30 August, 2023, Mayor Dele Osinowo distributed credited BRT Cowry Cards to members of staff of the council.
Each Cowry Card is credited with N10,000, meant not only for the workers to benefit from the subsidised fare of the BRT buses announced by the state government but also to reduce the challenges they face over increased transport fare occasioned by the removal of the fuel subsidy.
At a programme held at the council headquarters at Alapere, Mayor Osinowo also distributed staple food packs to members of staff.
The Agboyi-Ketu LCDA Chairman noted that the programme was designed to motivate the staff in putting more efforts in their services, stressing that happy workers are productive workers.
Speaking further, Osinowo described the programme as ‘Complementary’ to the good works of the Babajide Sanwo-olu administration.
He, therefore, commended the Lagos State Governor for always acting timely to the crucial needs of Lagosians during the temporary challenges brought about by the fuel subsidy removal.
Identifying with the temporary challenges being faced by all and sundry over the removal of fuel subsidy, Mayor Dele Oshinowo further urged residents of the LCDA to remain calm, noting that the removal of the subsidy was a good action to improve the nation’s economy.
He further urged them to remain supportive of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, stressing that he has the formula to take Nigeria to greater heights.
