The Court of Appeal in Abuja has dismissed the appeal filed by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and its candidate for the Lagos Central Senatorial District in the last National Assembly Elections, Adewale Gomez against the dismissal of his petition by the National and State Assembly Elections Petition Tribunal in Lagos.
Gomez had filed a petition against the election of Senator Wasiu Eshilokun-Sanni of the All Progressives Congress (APC) who was declared winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Tribunal dismissed the petition noting that the appelants abandoned the matter in court.
Gomez and PDP went to the Appeal Court to challenge the decision of the Tribunal on whether it’s right to say their petition was abamdoned
The Appeal Court on Friday, 8 September, 2023, upheld the decision of the Tribunal by throwing the Appeal of the Appelants.
