English Premier League (EPL) giants, Manchester United have told Anthony that he should not return to the club after the international break until he clears his name over allegations of assault.
The club stated this in its statement issued on Sunday, 10 September, 2023.
“Man Utd acknowledges the allegations made against Antony. He will delay his return until further notice in order to address the allegations.
“As a club we condemn acts of violence and abuse,” the club said.
Recall that, Antony’s ex-girlfriend, Gabriela Cavallin, claimed the footballer assaulted her on four occasions.
Another two more women in Brazil, Rayssa de Freitas and Ingrid Lana, also accused the 23-year-old of physical abuse.
Based on this development, the player was not included in Brazil’s World Cup qualifier against Bolivia, and United have now followed suit.
However, Anthony has denied the allegations leveled against him by the women.
“I have agreed with United to take a period of absence while I address the allegations made against me. This was a mutual decision.
“I want to reiterate my innocence of the things I have been accused of, I will fully cooperate with the police,” Anthony stated this in a statement issued over the matter.
