It’s a new dawn in the tourism sector of the Nigerian economy as Tourism, Security and Entertainment Icon, Wanle Akinboboye, will be creating brand new different tourism products in the Nigerian tourism industry space.
Otunba Wanle Akinboboye who made this known immediately after the commemoration of the World Tourism Day, and the Nigerian Independence Day celebrations, declared that,
“Our country Nigeria is blessed with great tourism attractions. Our focus is to restate that tourism is a market place. Tourism market like any other market must have products. If you go to a market you have to define what you are selling, is it tomatoes or pepper or salt or yam or plantain. You must have a product.”
Akinboboye noted that, “The mistake we have made for so long is that we have focused on tourism without products. We have only been showcasing attractions. An attraction must be transformed to destination by surrounding that attraction with activities to make it viable. That is when that destination becomes a tourism product. That is when it can be sold”.
Akinboboye is thus set to change the narrative, by creating 52 different new tourism products.
He enthused that he is going to create along with his team, 52 tourism products, with each tourism product announced every Friday of a new week, starting Friday, 13 October, 2023.
“The action plan is to create for the first year, 52 products that will then be polished and standardised for the next two years. During the two years of standardization of these new products, we will start working on the next set,” he said.
He further clarified that attempt will be made for the created new products, to be replicated throughout the 774 local governments and the 36 states of Nigeria.
This initiative when implemented will help immensely to transform the tourism industry that has young tourism practitioners and entrepreneurs who can have products they can establish with, in any part of the country they desire, taking advantage of Akinboboye’s 40 years experience in developing tourism products.
“We believe that when this programme is implemented, it will explode the Nigerian economy through practical tourism implementation,” Akinboboye said.
So, watch out for the countdown to the announcement of the first tourism product next Friday, 13 October, 2023.
