The Rauf Solomon Memorial Hall on Olateju Street, Mushin, erupted with jubilation as family, friends, and well-wishers celebrated the graduation of students from various departments at the two ICT centers of initiated and created by the Rasak Ajala led Odiolowo-Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area of Lagos State.
The event saw the Chairman, Hon Rasaq Olusola Ajala, emphasizing the programme’s goal of uplifting individuals from poverty and providing them with valuable skills.
“We’ve prevented you from becoming ‘Area boys and girls,’ aiming to offer a pathway out of the various challenges you may face in developing your career,” Ajala declared.
Highlighting the critical role of ICT literacy in today’s global landscape, he stressed, “Any professional without ICT knowledge cannot compete globally. Our intention is to make you ICT compliant for a brighter future.”
Encouraging positive use of acquired skills, he urged graduates to avoid misuse that could harm others and emphasized building on the solid foundation provided by the program.
Acknowledging the program’s popularity beyond LCDA boundaries, Hon Ajala extended its reach to benefit 20% of the wider population, resulting in outstanding non-resident students receiving awards.
Expressing gratitude to the Executive, Legislative Arm, and department heads for their support, Hon Ajala emphasized the program’s pivotal role in empowering the community.
CDC Chairman, Otunba Adekunle Adebayo, lauded Hon Ajala’s efforts, praising him as unmatched in local government contributions. He advised graduates to leverage their skills for personal improvement and prosperity.
Rev. Durowoju, representing the Christian Association of Nigeria, commended the program’s unprecedented impact and its contribution to graduates’ livelihoods. He highlighted the positive influence of the LCDA’s website, showcasing local businesses.
The awards ceremony celebrated outstanding students, with recipients expressing gratitude for the opportunity. Wasiu Yakub, Akpan David, and Oluwadamilare Adesanya shared their excitement, attributing their success to the programme.
In attendance were: Vice Chairman of the LCDA, Hon Seyi Jakande; the Leader of the Legislative Arm, Hon Rilwan Ola Ajenifuja; councilors; Secretary to the LCDA, Hon Mujeeb Ayinde Daramola, and various executive members. The event also hosted key figures, including the Council Manager, Treasurer, heads of departments and units, religious leaders, and market representatives.
