An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court in Lagos State, presided by Chief Magistrate, Mr O.A Layinka, has ordered the remand of a 50-year-old security guard named Mohammed Sanni in a correctional centre for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.
Magistrate Layinka, who did not take Sanni’s plea, ordered that the case file should be sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice, just as also she adjourned the case until March 28, pending the DPP’s advice.
The prosecutor, Insp Lucky Ihieme, had told the court that Sanni committed the offence on Jan. 8 at Obidiegwu St., Iyana School, Iba, Lagos.
According to Ihieme, Sannii invited the victim to eat “suya” (meat kebab) in an uncompleted building where he took advantage of the girl and defiled her.
The police prosecutor added that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 137 and 261 Criminal Laws of Lagos State.
