Gunmen have attacked an eatery in the Pankshin Local Government Area of Plateau State on Saturday, 17 February, 2024 and killed the state Spokesperson of All Progressive Congress (APC), Sylvanus Namang and one businessman.
Pankshin, was said to have been in the town for a burial and afterward, he went to buy something at an eatery in the locality where he met his untimely death. alongside the businessman.
A chieftain of the APC, who doesn’t want his name mentioned , confirmed Namang’s death to PUNCH Online in Jos, the state capital on Sunday, 18 February, 2024.
“Yes, it’s true. We have lost our spokesman, Sylvanus Namang. From what I was told, he went to Pankshin for a burial on Saturday. Afterward, he went to buy something at an eatery in the locality.
“Suddenly, some armed people came to the place and shot at him and one other person. He later succumbed to the injuries sustained and died.
“I learnt that the other victim, who is said to be a business man, also died from the gunshot wounds,” the chieftain said
The chieftain, who described APC image-makers’s death as shocking, called on security agents to fish out those behind the killings in the interest of justice.
As at the time of filing this report, the state police command has yet to make comment on the development.
