A Nigerian actress, Amal Umar, has been arrested by the Kano State Police Command for trying to bribe police officers in order to stop investigation fraud allegation against her boyfriend, reports thegazellenews.com
Consequently, Amal has been arraigned before a Kano Magistrate Court over the matter.
Amal’s boyfriend, Ramadan Inuwa was under police investigation over alleged misappropriation of money totalling N40 million.
Alhaji Yusuf Adamu through his lawyer, H I Dederi, had petitioned the Assistant Inspector General of Police Umar Muhammad Sanda on how Ramadan allegedly misappropriated money totalling N40 million in his cell phone business.
In the course of their investigation, the police discovered that N13 million was transferred to Umal’s account by Ramadan.
The actress was invited and she confessed that the money in her account belonged to her boyfriend (Ramadan). Contradictorily she stated that he only transferred N8 million.
She was questioned and granted bail but was not allowed to leave in the car which was allegedly purchased by her boyfriend, apparently one of the proceeds of the alleged crime.
Thereafter, the actress allegedly attempted to bribe the police officers with a view to halting the investigation. She was arrested with documentary evidence and subsequently arraigned on Wednesday, 20 March, 2024 before Magistrate Court No 24, Gyadi-Gyadi in Kano.
