Former Kwara State Senator, Rafiu Ibrahim, is dead.
Ibrahim was said to have died at the age of 57 after a brief illness.
The family made this disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen on Wednesday, 17 April, 2024.
“We kindly request your prayers and support during this difficult time. His burial arrangements will be communicated in due course.
“We pray Allah forgives his shortcomings and grants him Al-Jannah Firdaus. Ameen,” the family said in the statement.
Mourning the lawmaker, the state Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, said he received with shock and sadness reports of the death of Senator Rafiu Ibrahim of the Peoples Democratic Party after a brief illness.
The Governor, in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, said, “I send my heartfelt condolences to the family of the late Senator, the people of Ojoku in Oyun Local Government Area, and the Peoples Democratic Party on this sad development.
“This shocking development again reminds everyone of the inevitability of death for all human beings and the fact that it could come unannounced for anyone.”
Ibrahim, born on December 12, 1966, was a senator who represented Kwara South Senatorial District in the eighth National Assembly from 2015 to 2019 under the leadership of Senator Bukola Saraki.
He was the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and Other Financial Institutions.
During his four-year tenure as Senator, he sponsored six bills and supervised eight others.
