The Lagos State of Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has lost one of its members to the cold hands of death.
She is in Alhaja Ramota Bankole, a former Welfare Secretary of the party in the state.
Bankole died in Saudi Arabia after performing her Hajj rites. Reports indicated that she was among several pilgrims who succumbed to the excessive heat experienced during the pilgrimage.
Her death was confirmed by the Chairmen of Epe Local Government and the Eredo and Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs).
The news of her passing comes amid a tragic surge in fatalities among pilgrims, with the death toll from the intense heat rising above 900.
Bankole, who had just celebrated her 60th birthday last month, was well-regarded for her significant contributions to the APC.
The Chairman of Epe Local Government, Surah Animashaun, expressed her condolences, noting that Bankole was in good health before embarking on her pilgrimage.
Her sudden demise is a profound loss for her community and the political party she served.
According to the statement, “It’s with a heavy heart, and a deep sense of grief that I received the news of the death of Alhaja Ramota Bankole.
“It is a sad day indeed as I received the news that she died in the holy land of Mecca while on holy pilgrimage.
“I extend my condolences to the Bankole family, APC member and entire people of Epe on the unfortunate demise of our dear Sister and Mummy”
