The Bill seeking to establish a federal university of technology in Lagos has scaled the First Reading at the House of Representatives, reports thegazellenews.com
The Bill was sponsored by the Chairman of the House Committee on Finance and member, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency in the House, Honourable James Abiodun Faleke.
Thegazellenews.com learnt that the Bill scaled the First Reading during the House plenary on Tuesday, 11 June, 2024, just before the House adjourned for the Eid-l-Kabir holiday.
This medium learnt that the proposed University of Technology is expected to be sited in Badagry.
The sponsor of the Bill, Honourable Faleke told thegazellenews.com that the reason for sponsoring the Bill to establish the University was the need to foster development and sustainability in technological advancement through education for the growing population of the country.
On Badagry as location, Honourable Faleke told thegazellenews.com that this will give opportunities to students in that axis to get quality technology education and reduce cases of students crossing the border to get admission in unauthorized institutions.
