Ogun State Head of Service (HoS), Mr. Kehinde Onasanya has appealed to professionals to offer advice on how to sustain the growing economy of the Gateway State.
According to him, such advice is crucial especially at this point in time when the economy of the State is growing in leaps and bounds.
Onasanya stated this when he received in audience the executive members of the Association of Professional Bodies of Nigeria (APBN), Ogun State chapter, and its affiliate bodies, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Ebun Atinuke, who came on a courtesy visit to his office.
He noted that Ogun State is growing tremendously based on the strategic planning encapsulated in the five pillars of I.S.E.Y.A. that the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration has implemented. He added that professionals are needed to continually offer expert advice, as the soundness of any policy depends on the quality of the advice offered to make it effective.
He emphasized that the present administration is worker-friendly, as all its policies are geared towards the welfare of the citizens, exemplified by the various intervention programs and palliatives put in place for the citizenry to cushion the effects of the increase in pump prices of fuel, with particular reference to the launch of e-bikes and tricycles by the State Government on Wednesday.
He called on the members, as seasoned and consummate administrators, thoroughbred professionals, and movers and shakers of the economy, to continue to bring their professionalism to bear, noting that with the body in place, government policies will always be enriched.
The Head of Service noted the contributions of members of the group to the yearly state budgets, assuring that the State Government will continue to partner with them in terms of policy-making, and urged them not to shirk their responsibility of grooming younger generations through student mentoring projects.
“With this kind of body, government policies will always be enriched. We are lucky to have you because we need you now more than ever as Ogun State is growing fast by the day with over 6,000 industries. This is because we have a worker-friendly governor whose policies, actions, plans, words, and deeds tend towards making life comfortable for the people, and I urge you to keep partnering with the government for the betterment of society,” Mr. Onasanya said.
He also charged the body to rise up to the issue of incessant building collapses being witnessed in the country by evolving monitoring policy teams to swing into action to make their existence felt more in the building sector.
He assured them of the government’s readiness to partner with them in the area of capacity building, which is sine qua non for the present administration.
Earlier in his submission, Alhaji Atinuke lauded the government, both at the federal and state levels, for the unprecedented steps taken so far to turn around the economy, as well as various intervention programs to cushion the effects of the fuel subsidy removal.
He also praised the State Government for keying into the aspirations and mindsets of the federal government, as well as other measures to keep bettering the lot of the citizens, especially with the recent commissioning of e-bikes and tricycles, and pleaded for more to be done.
The APBN chairman appreciated the government for past collaboration in the area of capacity building and solicited more to be organized for public servants, presenting other needs of the body before the HoS.
