The Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Mayor Olufemi Akanbi Okeowo has said that the food palliative programme of his administration is making significant impacts in the lives of the residents based on the feedback he has been getting so far.
He therefore explained that it is necessary to increase the package in order to reach more people.
He said this at the 11th edition of the programme which held at LA Primary school, Mosafejo.
According to the Council Chairman there are more beneficiaries from the seven wards, each ward is to select 150 people they know are in need of the foodstuffs which comprises of rice, garri, beans, semovita and others.
Also at the event, 100 peasant traders received N50,000 each to support their businesses, the beneficiaries were also known traders who needed more fund to boost their trades. 500 aged got N10,000 each, 500 youths got N10,000 each, 250 young families got N10,000 each and free drugs to 250 individuals with special ailments such as diabetes, hypertension and others.
During the commissioning of the solar- powered Street Light, Okeowo explained that it’s makes a lot of economic sense to have solar light installed in view of the high cost of diesel, he said it will also reduce incessant accident in the night along that road. Okeowo said the economic activities along the Suru -Mosafejo Expressway will increase significantly.
The former Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly and former member of the House of Representatives for Ajeromi/Ifelodun Federal Constituency, Hon Musbau Kolawole Taiwo appreciated the initiative of the Council Chairman for illuminating the area with the cleanest source of energy.
He said, “solar energy makes a lot of sense, no problem of Fuel or diesel, it’s comes up and goes off at the appropriate time, residents will soon appreciate your insightful gesture on the solar lights”.
The pioneer Chairman of Ifelodun LCDA, Hon Taiwo Oyewole Adenekan enjoined Okeowo not to relent in transforming the economic and social lives of our community. He revealed that Suru-Mosafejo Expressway is the longest and the most commercially viable street in the whole of Ifelodun LCDA.
“Why go abroad? Come to Ifelodun LCDA and see wonders,” he said.
