The need to ensure that the youths in Odiolowo/Ojuwoye Local Council Development Area are not left behind in fastly growing digital age was the major reason the Rasak Ajala-led administration has committed itself to training youths in the council and giving them opportunities to acquire skills in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
The council Chairman, Honourable Rasaq Olusola Ajala stated this at the Ilupeju secretariat of the council during the presentation of certificates to graduates of the council’s ICT Boot Camp Training for youths in the council area.
A total of 330 youths comprising of pupils in primary and secondary schools in the council area participated in the scheme and they all received their certificates having attained proficiency in necessary ICT skills.
The training programme was on for two weeks at designated centres in the council area.
“By empowering our youths with ICT skills, we are ensuring that they are not left behind in the digital age. They can now access a wealth of information and knowledge that can help them in their personal and professional growth.
“We are also nurturing the next generation of entrepreneurs, innovators, and problem-solvers who will drive our economy forward.
“ICT is not just a tool; it is a transformative force that shapes our present and future. It is imperative therefore that we continue to invest in ICT education and training, especially for our youths, who are the leaders of tomorrow.
“By equipping them with the right skills and knowledge, we are not only preparing them for the challenges of the digital age but also empowering them to be the architects of a better and brighter future,” Ajala, Secretary General of Conference 57, umbrella body of Council Chairmen in Lagos State, said.
He advised the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the skills they have acquired during the training noting that they have attained knowledge that would shape their lives and improve their standard of living if applied judiciously.
“Over the past two weeks, you have embarked on a journey of learning, exploration, and discovery in the world of Information and Communication Technology (ICT).
“You have acquired new skills, broadened your horizons, and equipped yourselves with tools that will be invaluable in our rapidly changing world.
“Thus, to all our participants, I encourage you to continue exploring, learning, and innovating. The skills you have gained in this boot camp are just the beginning. The world of ICT is vast and full of endless possibilities. Use what you have learned here to make a positive impact on your communities, your country, and the world at large,” the Odiolowo/Ojuwoye LCDA boss said.
