As part of measures to improve the welfare and livelihood of residents, Ojodu Local Council Development Area, under the chairmanship of Honourable Segun Odunmbaku, has again organised sales of subsidized food items to residents, reports thegazellenews.com.
The initiative, tagged “Everything 1k” offered residents essential food items at the highly subsidised price of ₦1,000 each.
The food packages included: 5kg of rice, 3kg of beans, 5kg of garri, large yam tubers, crates of eggs, 5kg of meat, whole chicken, 2.5 liters each of palm oil and groundnut oil, as well as 5kg of pepper, tomatoes, and onions.
Held at the Council Secretariat Hall, the event attracted over 2,500 residents, all of whom took advantage of the affordable prices.
This initiative is part of the council’s broader mission to alleviate the financial burden on residents, complementing other social welfare programmes such as Free bus transportation and the “See A Doctor” medical programme, which provides free medical consultations and surgeries for people of Ojodu LCDA.
In partnership with “All Farmers Association” and local agribusinesses like “Fade Eleran”, a local butchery, the programme underscores Ojodu LCDA’s commitment to supporting local businesses and empowering youths. Over 5,000 subsidized food items were sourced from local suppliers with special attention given to vulnerable groups such as People With Disabilities and Senior Citizens.
