Babaji Daule, zoo keeper at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library Zoological Garden has been killed by a lion he is caring for, reports thegazellenews.com.
The guard was killed on Saturday, 28 September, 2024.
His death was reported by the Chief Security Officer to the OOPL and has been confirmed by the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for the state police command, Omolola Odutola.
According to the report, the deceased failed to secure the locks and barricade of the lion’s enclosure before approaching the cage to feed it, thegazellenews.com learnt.
This have the lion the opportunity to escape and pounced on the zoo keeper fatally injuring him. The lion had to be shot before the victim could be released from him.
The victim’s body has been deposited at the mortuary of the Ijaye General Hospital.
