Gunmen on Thursday, 10 October, ambushed commuters at the Tsafe-Funtua Road killed a police officer, just as they also abducted many travelers, including an expatriate and members of staff of a construction company.
Villagers said that the hoodlums, with sophisticated weapons, blocked the Tsafe – Funtua Road at Kwanar Rogo for several hours, shooting at any moving vehicle.
A survivor, who preferred anonymity, narrated his ordeal, saying that the bandits laid an ambush and started shooting indiscriminately.
Among the vehicles attacked was a Toyota RAV4 Jeep carrying an expatriate, whose police escort was killed on the spot.
The expatriate, alongside numerous other travelers, was abducted and taken to an unknown location.
Eyewitnesses said that it took nearly two hours before a combined team of security operatives arrived to clear the road and restore traffic flow.
The delay allowed the bandits ample time to escape with their captives.
As at the time of filing this report, the State Police Command has yet to comment on the development.
