The Executive Chairman of Agboyi-Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Mayor Dele Oshinowo, has emerged as the Best Local Government Chairman on Grassroots Governance of The Year for 2024.
The award was bestowed on him by the National Association of Online Security Publishers of Nigeria (NAOSNP) at a well-attended Annual National Conference of the association held at the Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He was singled out among the 774 local governments in Nigeria given his excellent performance by turning hitherto Agboyi Ketu into a city which the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, applauded as a fast-growing LCDA.
Since he assumed the leadership of the council in 2024, he has impacted positively on the people of the community without the people-oriented massive infrastructural development projects.
Mayor Oshinowo was presented with the well-deserved award by Hajia Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, Minister of State Police Affairs; in the presence of Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Zone 2, Onikan, AIG Adegoke Fayoade; Lagos Commissioner of Police, Ishola Olanrewaju; Chief Dele Momodu; and amongst other guests.
The award committee which has earlier toured the LCDA to assess Mayor Oshinowo’s performance, noted that
he has excelled in the areas of infrastructural development, Education, Health, Environment, Agriculture, Social Development and Technology.
Within his period as the council boss, he has built a modern administrative block with state-of-the-art equipment.
Others are Greenwich Gardens 81 apartments, while the second phase has 20 apartments of 20 units of three-bedroom terrace duplexes with BQ totalling 101 apartments.
Others are Raymond Estate, Sterling Heights, industrial Borehole, construction of Agboyi-Ketu Shopping Arcade, construction of plank market, Ketu, legislative building, and acquiring of five 500KvA transformers.
A total of 64 road projects were also undertaken. In the same vein, He has also empowered petty traders and widows with 125m alone this year.
