The Labour Party (LP) has unambiguously acknowledged that move to uproot and upstage Prof Chukwuma Soludo as governor in the fast approaching 2025 governorship election in the state will not be an easy task.
This was disclosed by the favourite aspirant of the LP for the coveted seat, Chief George Moghalu while playing host to the 21 Local Government Council Chairmen of the party in his Nnewi home.
Chief Moghalu in his remarks at the consultation meeting with the party leaders commended them for honouring his invitation.
According to him, “.. removing Prof Soludo in the coming election is not going to be a tea party at all.
“But yes, it is achievable. It needs a crack team of committed, shrewd critical thinkers who are ready to stay awake while other citizens sleep.
He noted with concern that Soludo has curiously and consistently continued to make series of disturbing mistakes, one after another.
“Today security in the State has completely collapsed. It’s such that no one is safe. No single day passes now without reports of some killings, kidnap or criminal invasion or assault on citizens, visitors or passers bye.
“The citizens have clearly lost faith and confidence in governance, the government and leadership of the State.
“We now use pestle, axe and cutlass to collect taxes. Wonderful! In our dear Anambra State of the 21st century.
“The Anambra State of our sage Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe’, the State of Abyssynia Akweke Nwafor Orizu.
“The dear state of Sir Louis Odumegwu Ojukwu, Ikemba Chukwuemeka Ojukwu, Dr Chuba Okadigbo, do I continue?
“These our forebears would be churning in their graves, that a son of Anambra, a whole Professor now use axes and pestles to break the knuckles of citizens he swore to guard and protect in order to force out money willy nilly from a completely devastated populace… “
“I come determined, committed and ready to hit the ground running from day one. I swear on my honour and name that i need just four years to deliver the goods and leave the stage with my honour and dignity.
“Am aware that a reasonable number of citizens of the state know me as one that dutifully keeps agreements. Am someone who is ever ready to say sorry where am wrong.
“Am ever ready to succumb to a superior point of sound argument. No one, not even a governor knows it all. I pick all my calls personally, responds to all messages and returns any call I miss.
“That is George Moghalu, the one standing before you and presenting my self to serve you and our dear State.”
He pointed out that he will give his best, but never desperate.
The state Chairman, Chief Ugochukwu Emeh while commending his courage and commitment to a better polity in Anambra State admitted that Moghalu was the first aspirant to have positively considered consulting with the leadership of the party. He urged him to keep it up.
