As parts of measures to reduce hunger in Nigeria, FoodClique Support Initiative, a non- profit charity organization, has disclosed that it has been able to provide over 13 million meals to vulnerable and the less privilege in the country.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Organisation, Prince Ibrahim Onilegbale made this disclosure during a press conference held in Lagos on Monday, 11 November, 2024.
“In total we have been able to provide over 13 million meals, in which 4,972, 810 are perishable while 8,511,640 are non-perishables. The analysis/breakdown of the intervention by Foodclique goes thus: Age bracket: Children 22%, Teen 12%, Adult 28%, and Seniors 38%.
Gender: Male 3,170,650 and Female 10,313,800,” Onilegabale said at the well attended press conference.
According to him, the organization has made its impact felt in states such as Lagos, Ogun, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, Osun, Kwara, Edo, Kogi, Niger, Gombe, Nasarawa, Kano, Delta, Imo, Rivers, and Abuja
Onilegbale, who said Foodclique Support Initiative envisions a world where food is never out of reach and has a zero hunger in the world, said the organization aimed to alleviate hunger and improve food security by rescuing surplus food, distributing nutritious meals, and empowering communities through education and sustainable practices.
According to him, the organization in his quest to expand its awareness and make more impact have partnered with organizations like Pepsico Foundation, TGI, EricKayser, Castwise Farm, Shoprite, Cantagali, BTA Foundation, Noella Foundation, UBA Foundation, Shift Nigeria, Flour Mills, Lekky Meals, LifeStyle Initiative,Cardtonic, Surveyors Network, in the United States of America.
In the area of volunteering and advocacy, the partners are: Agents of Hope Detroit, Food Bank of New York, Campus Kitchen Indianapolis and University of Illinois Urbana Champagne.
Onilegbale said the organization is happy to have partner with Sony Music Nigeria, saying the partnership with the music company provides hope and support to the vulnerable and the less privilege this trying time, leaving them the joy and happiness of not having to worry about where their meals for at least 7 days this festive period.
“Through this partnership we would be able to provide 500 Foodboxes of 10kg each containing non perishable food items like Rice 2kg, Garri 2kg, wheat 1kg, spaghetti 1kg, Noddles 720g, Semo 1kg, Tomatoes paste 250g, Vegetable oil 750ml, Maggi 150g, Salt 500g and Sugar 500g that would feed a family size of 5 to 10 people for days.
We so appreciative of this collaboration and partnership with sony music, the partnership is purposeful and intentional to ensure that people have succor this trying time of economic hardship in the country and worldwide.
“We are assuring Sony Music of a successful outreach and food relief intervention this festive period counting on our vast knowledge and experience in ending hunger and working to achieve a zero hunger nation SDG 2 of the United Nation,” he said.
