The Lagos State Government has shut down the Central Mosque in Agege Hausa Market, The Gazelle News.com reports.
According to the Executive Assistant to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu on New Media, Mr Olusegun Fafore, the mosque was shut because it violated the state government order on social gathering which must not exceed 25 people at any single gathering.
The Gazelle News.com confirmed that the Hausa Central Mosque Moshalasi Alhaja bus stop, Agege was filled to the brim with worshippers on the night of Tuesday, 31 March, 2020 when the task force on end enforcing the social gathering order came calling.
Some worshippers even attacked the officials even when they were trying to explain the negative effect of the gathering on their heath.
Fafore told The Gazelle News.com that closing down the mosque has nothing to do with the attack but rather with the violation of the state government’s order.
