The Chairman of Isolo Local Council Development Area of Lagos State, Hon Shamusudeen Abiodun Olaleye and his team have started the provision of stimulus packages to indigent residents of the council area.
The Gazelle News.com reports that the first phase of the distribution targeting 2000 households in the council area took place on Saturday, 11 April, 2020 under strict compliance with the social distance order.
On Saturday, Hon Olaleye told The Gazelle News.com that 120 packs each are being given to each of the seven wards in the council area which distribution will be monitored by officials of the various community development associations (CDAs) in the council area.
“We are also making provision for physically challenged people, the market men and women, the traditional institutions as well as religious organisations,” the Isolo council boss said.
Olaleye urged those saddle with the duty of distributing the palliatives to be transparent and honest in their dealings with people. “These things are meant for the vulnerables in the council area and we must ensure that the packs get to those who really needed it,” he said.
According to him, the second phase of the programme will involve the youths, women and politicians.
Earlier, the Olaleye administration has ensure fumigation of markets, palaces and other areas in the council.
Olaleye commended the state Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his team for their proactive reaction which has been able to contain and curtail the spread of the virus.
“Governor Sanwo-Olu and his team have been fantastic and they deserve our commendatjon. Their proactive reaction and approach saved the country from witnessing the wide spread of the virus on a large proportion. We must and will continue to give kudos to our Governor,” the Isolo LCDA boss said.
