As the Coronavirus pandemic leaves its effect on the people across the globe, affecting the daily earners as much as salary earners, the Jandor Food Bank, an initiative of a Lagos based socio-political group, Team Jandor, has continued the distribution of food packages across the state to cushion the effect of the Covid-19 pandemic.
On the first two weeks lockdown declared by the Federal Government of Nigeria, Jandor Food Bank touched the lives of many citizens across the local governments of Lagos State. The initiative which is motivated by the Lead Visioner of Team Jandor, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, was described by pundits as one of the largest palliative measures put in place by a group to support Nigerians, most especially the Lagos based citizens.
One of the beneficent Local Government in Lagos State, Lagos Island LGA, was thrown to excitement as the people described the food packages as “well packed and respectfully organized to ease the burden of the people”.
Speaking during the exercise, the coordinator of the group in Lagos Island, Prince Lawal Akinsemoyin said the food packages distribution exercise continued its second phase in lieu of the lockdown extension.
When asked about the pattern of distribution, Prince Akinsemoyin said the people of the Local Government have carefully identified the old, widows and the vulnerable in order to ensure that they benefit from the Jandor Food Bank initiative.
Similarly, at the Ikosi-Ejirin Local Council Development Area, the Coordinator of the group, Mr. Abu Niyass, confirmed that despite reaching out to hundreds of people at the first phase, the extension the lockdown met the kindness of Team Jandor Lead Visioner, Mr. Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran, who has approved the continuation of the distribution of the food packages to get to more citizens.
One of the beneficiaries, Elder Mathew Ajose, in his appreciation speech appreciated the motive behind the initiative. He, however, urged others to emulate Jandor who is touching lives with his personal funds.
Mrs. Nimota Abdullahi, while speaking, said that the food packages have brought smile to the peoples faces, assuring of their prayers and support to Team Jandor.
