A Lagos based human rights organisation, Progressive Volunteers (PV), has given reasons the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu and his team of eminent individuals deserve maximum support from the people to conquer the dreaded coronavirus in the state.
Speaking on behalf of the group in Lagos, its Convener, Comrade Soyoye Ekundayo, said, “having critically examined the fatality of the dreaded monster tormenting the people globally as well as the way the Lagos administration is curtailing it, we of the Progressive Volunteers have come to the conclusion that the administration deserves maximum support in the interest of the whole nation.”
According to him, Sanwo-Olu’s approach towards battling the dreaded COVID-19 has convinced even all the doubting Thomases that the method has saved the state as well as the whole country from monumental disaster, asserting that the governor is a God sent Messiah to the people of Lagos State.
Ekundayo reasoned that, going by the strategic location of the state as a major entrance into the country and the migrant nature of the disease, if not curb effectively at the entry point, its free migration to the hinterland could have spelt doom for the entire nation.
The concerned activist also commended the governor and his supportive group over the free distribution of face covers to the resident, pointing out that, it is a sign of a responsive administration that wants its people comply with the preventive measures put in place for their survival.
He also commended the administration for its thoughtfulness on the effective way the palliatives are made available to the people saying the method has endeared it to the residents and thus encourages them to comply with all the preventive steps expected of them.
Ekundayo therefore urged the residents to utilise the free face masks provided by the governor for their own benefit reminding that, wearing of the garget has become compulsory thus making non-compliance a punishable offence.
While enjoining people of goodwill to also contribute to the making of more masks and sanitizers for the resident, the right activist seize the opportunity to commend a group, ‘Coalition of 70 Right groups for Sanwo-Olu’ that distributed 5, 000 face masks and 5, 000 bottles of hand sanitizer to the people, saying, their gesture is worthy of emulation.
Concluding, Ekundayo expressed delight that the governor’s performance is not unnoticed by two global bodies- the World Health Organisation (WHO), and the United Nation (UN) that gave Lagos kudos over the way it has been handling the coronavirus code-named COVID-19.
