Governor of Kano State, Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje, has described as outstanding and amazing the survival instinct of the Nigerian Postal Services (NIPOST).
This was the Governor’s conclusion while hosting the Postmaster General of the Federation and CEO, NIPOST, Dr. Ismail Adebayo Adewusi, in his office on Wednesday.
This was just as Dr. Adewusi said that the organisation was poised to make Kano the hub of its e-commerce in the ongoing re-organisation and repositioning to meet the demands of the new generation.
Governor Ganduje went memory lane since the colonial era when he said NIPOST enjoyed the monopoly of sending messages till the emergence of Telegram and later electronic mail saying yet, NIPOST has survived the transformation.
He said, “One would have assumed that with the advent of ICT, NIPOST will go into extinction. But it has remarkably remained relevant in the midst of all the challenges. NIPOST has an undying extinct for survival.”
Adewusi, who was commended by the Governor for his visit, equally eulogised the Governor for what he called his capacity to turn around things with his handling of the corona virus pandemic in the state.
Adewusi said, “Kano appeared as if it had been overpowered by the ravage only for the Governor to gallantly rise to the occasion and in no time, Kano was salvaged from the menace.
“Your Excellency in the first place Lagos state was the epicenter of COVID-19 and Kano came again as another epicenter of the pandemic.
“But with your courage and commitment, you stood firm and fought the pandemic gallantly. We are all proud of you for your determination and commitment in leading the fight,” he said.
He told the Governor that NIPOST has decided to make Kano the hub of NIPOST e-commerce saying the city has what he called “impressive business opportunities.”
“NIPOST Management considers Kano as E-commerce hub of the organization. We therefore request the Governor to assist NIPOST with the necessary infrastructure for effective and efficient service delivery to the people of Kano State,” he said
The Postmaster was accompanied on the visit by Kaduna Zonal Manager, Malam Dauda Musa Bdiliya, General Manager Corporate communication, Mr. Franklyn Alao, Special Adviser to the PMG on Operations, Mr. Samson Tinuoye, Deputy Director Property and Workshop Mr. Peter Iyobhebhe, District managers of Kano and BUK Ibrahim Kaduna and Ali Nuhu respectively.
