The Federal Executive Council (FEC) has approved the scrapping the Niger Delta and Sports Development Ministries.
The FEC also approved the merger of the Ministry of Tourism with the Ministry of Culture and Creative Economy.
According to Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, disclosed this on X handle on Wednesday, 23 October, 2024, the decision was taken on Wednesday, 23 October, 2024, at the Federal Executive Council (FEC).
A new ministry named Ministry of Regional Development which will oversee all the regional development commissions.
These are: the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), the North West Development Commission (NWDC), South West Development Commission (SWDC), and the North East Development Commission (NEDC).
The National Sports Commission will take over the role of the Ministry of Sports.
The decisions were taken today, Wednesday, 23 October, 2024, at the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting.
