First Lady of Nigeria Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has said that there is a lot of work to be done in the nation especially as it relates to sensitizing women, youth and the general public about the prevalence of HIV/AIDS in the country, reports thegazellenews.com
The First Lady disclosed this at the office of the Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani when she was received by the Governor, his Deputy, the state Assembly members, traditional rulers, and religious leaders
Senator Oluremi Tinubu said that collaboration between traditional institution, religious bodies, and the government will go a long way in stemming the tide of the prevalence of these diseases.
She also called attention to the harmful practice of female genital mutilation, which she says Nigeria should have gone past that stage.
The First Lady pointed out that the nations population is not encouraging as Government has to deal with a large number of people, therefore, the buy-in of all stakeholders is needed to yield the desired results.
In his remarks the Chairman of the Kaduna State Council of Traditional Rulers, and Emir of Zazzau, His Royal Majesty Ahmed Nuhu Bamali gave a commitment on behalf of the traditional rulers present that they will do everything to take the advocacy for the HIV AIDS, syphilis, hepatitis, tuberculosis, and female genital mutilation to the grass roots.
Prayers were offered for the nation, the President and Kaduna State.
