Former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the Lagos State Police Command, Olatunji Disu has been promoted to the new rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) by the Police Service Commission (PSC).
Disu, an exceptional police operational officer, before his new rank, was the Commissioner of Police (CP) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Command.
In total, the PSC approved the promotion of 20 Commissioners of Police, 19 Deputy Commissioners, 13 Superintendents, and 14 Deputy Superintendents.
This is contained in a statement on Monday, 17 March, 2025, in Abuja by PSC Head of Press and Public Relations, Mr Ikechukwu Ani.
Ani said the CPs were elevated to Assistant Inspector-General of Police, DCPs to CP, SPs to CSP and DSPs to SP.
Other newly promoted CPs to AIGs include: Fasuba Olabode, Musibau Ajani, Aliyu Musa, Patrick Atayero, Gyogon Grimah, Olaiya Mobolaji, and Chukwudi Ariekpere.
Others are: Abubakar Aliyu, Olalolu Adegbite, Godwin Eze, Alausa Tolani, Kareem Musa, Mohammed Dalijan, and Dan-Mamman Shawulu.
Also promoted were: Clement Robert, Musa Mohammed, Thomas Nabhoni, Abel Miri Zwalchir, and Ifeanyi Uka.
The DCPs promoted to CP include: Usman Tahir, Sunday Okoebor, Ayodeji Faniyan, Saka Ajao, Omole Ola, Hope Okafor, and Ajo Ordue.
Others are: Olufunke Adeayo, Stephen Ogedengbe, Iyabode Agbaminoja, Adebowale Lawal, Ojo Adekimi, and Yemi Oyeniyi.
Additional names are: Obasi Okereke, Moses Ottah, Felix Nnebue, Gazali Abdul-Salaam, Fidelis Ogarabe, and Olubode Ojajuni.
Ani said all promoted officers, including the 13 SPs and 14 DSPs, appeared before the commission and underwent examination and an interactive interview.
The Chairman of the Commission, Mr Hashimu Argungu, presided over the promotion exercise with the support of other commission members.
