It was a three-day conference and exhibition opportunities and knowledge-sharing benefits, at the IOT West Africa event in Lagos.
The strictly technology-based exhibition and conference were designed to further proffer solutions to challenges faced by individuals, corporate organisations and the government at large on sustenance provision of water and power or energy needs in Nigeria.
The event was spot on, showcasing different innovative technology appliances and applications developed by several companies, both at home and abroad.
The event which took place at Landmark Event Center, Victoria Island, Lagos, saw a huge turnout of visitors and investors between the 21st of June and the 23rd, 2022.
Over twenty-five technology companies’ exhibitors were present in cubicles, with the display of their various innovations, varying from Logistics, Health, Cable Television Companies, Telecommunication, Power, Interior Designs, ecosystems, Agriculture, Transportation, e-Commerce, Education, and Crypto-currency, among others.
At the conference was a panel section, where several solutions-related topics were discussed at length by invited speakers from different selected companies, focussing on the impacts of technology application globally and attendant implications for sustainable developments in Nigeria
Thirteen Tech-gurus were invited from various technology companies to enlighten the participants on the benefits and importance to adopt technology as it grows rapidly and educate them on value addition to home and industrial growth.
Three critical sectors in Nigeria were addressed exhaustively, Energy, Education, the Health sector and the financial payment system.
Experts’ focus on Education was accentuated on how technology is a driving force for literacy attainment on all fronts.
According to the experts ” IOT or technology is not just to solve challenges in all sectors, but to build and recruit next generation of technology problems solvers doe Nigeria. People who can use technology to address problems from a very tender age (Secondary and Tertiary Institutions specifically)”.
In the area of health, panellists agreed on creating a platform for people to have access to blood donation, especially with the creation of an application as demonstrated by a Tech Start- up company “Beta Life”.
Getting involved in the creation of technology innovations, aids self-employment, and reliability and also opens employment channels for job seekers.

In the words of Mr Taiwo Ainaje, a staff of United ISCO Academy, “it’s a kind of exposure, based on what I have heard and seen so far, I never knew it’s possible to bring three critical individuals on a common platform to have access to blood and. The Donor, Blood Bank, and Recipient are on a common platform. This shows that we have the world at our fingers tip now, most especially when it comes to some challenges that have been disturbing the country in the past years”.
Another beneficiary, Yemisi Aboluwarin, A Building professional & project manager, “It’s been quite impressive, I met with several companies and exhibitors. I handle building designs from start to finish, and I have seen several companies that have facilities that are innovative in the building Industry. The companies here are forward-thinking, with the solution Innovative, they are quite creative, and the solutions are more accessible for the kind of clients and future that we are anticipating. Going forward, if we can have more of these solutions integrated, it will rebuild our construction industry”.
Elizabeth Timehin, a cyber security student, explained how she was made to know the meaning of IOT in general, and realize how IOT and cyber security are related. Then how does IOT work on Jumia to benefit consumers? How IOT ease transportation shuttle, considering different means of transportation with a single payment method or accounts.
Alaga Ademola, A team member of First Army Publishing, “When I came on Tuesday, I met with different solar energy companies, who introduced and explained more about their solar power technology, and its value over the general electricity supply system”.
He was impressed with an exhibition of new products and available devices at reasonable prices.
What was instructive, at the IOT water and power exhibition and conference was the participation of a cryptocurrency company “Basira” company, which enlightened visitors on the opportunities of the emerging indigenous ecosystem of cryptocurrency.
