Ogboni Fouad Oki has been elected Chairman of Lagos State Football Association, reports thegazellenews.com
At a keenly contested election on Wednesday, 24 May, 2023, which took place at the Mobolaji Johnson Stadium, Onikan, Lagos, Oki defeated the former acting Chairman, Tade Azeez with a landslide margin of 13 votes to one.
Fouad Oki will replace the outgoing chairman barrister Seyi Akinwumi.
Gafar Olawale Liameed also emerged the Vice Chairman of the Lagos FA.The CEO of 36 Lions FC of Lagos defeated Dotun Coker by 10 votes to 4 votes.
At his post-election and acceptance speech, Oki expressed appreciation for the love and support given to him.
“I assure you all that we’ll take football in the state to greater heights but of course, I’ll need the support and cooperation of all,”.
Congratulatory messages have been pouring for the new FA Chairman. Prince Sulaiman Gbadamosi, son of the Onigando of Igandò, described the election of Oki as a welcome development.
“He’s well versed and intelligent. I believe he’s going to be a round peg in a round hole and I believe in his ability and capacity to improve football administration in Lagos State,” he said.
