Prince Yunus Olalekan Akadiri has been selected as the new Akinrun of Ikirun-elect, reports The Gazelle News.com.
The selection of the new Akinrun from the Obaara Ruling House was revealed on Friday, 19 November, 2021 after the town’s Kingmakers met on Thursday, 18 November, 2021 and voted for the Princes from the Obaara Ruling House precented for the selection.
The Gazelle News.com learnt exclusively that out of the seven Kingmakers that voted during the exercise, six voted for Prince Akadiri hence his name was announced as the new Akinrun-elect.
This medium learnt that the process for the election of the new Akinrun was devoid any rancour.
The new Akinrun designate is the grandson of His Royal Majesty Oba Adekilekun Oyinlola Omotoso Akadiri Oyewole popularly known as Aweri Kan Buka, that is, the Oba whose turban touches the roof.
The Akinrun-designate’s grandfather reigned between 1887 and 1917 as the 10th Akinrun of Ikirunland.
The Akinrun-designate will succeed the last Akinrun, Oba Olayiwola Olawale Adedeji who died in February, 2021.
Prince Akadiri’s name is expected to be forwarded to the local government for onward transmission to the state government.
An indigene of the town, Engineer Ademola Ganiyu Owolabi aka Okechie Eleniyan, commended the peaceful way the selection was made, saying he was also impressed with the other contestants who gracefully accepted and respected the Kingmakers’ decision.
