In a bid to honour women who gave birth to famous and glorious sons in the south west of Nigeria, veteran journalist and publisher of popular local newspaper, YORUBA TOOTO, Mr Kunle Babarinde has dedicated a 355 page historical book written in Yoruba language to the mother of Oyo state Governor, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde, Late Abigail Makinde who died on 15 October, 2020.
The book which comprised the history of prominent towns in Yoruba land like Ile-Ife, Oyo, Ibadan, Modakeke and how Ilorin was founded and lost by the Yorubas to the Fulanis was edited by the Association of Yoruba Language Lecturers in Colleges Of Education and has received wide endorsement and encomium.
In other to commemorate the one year demise of Madam Abigail Makinde and also celebrate her glorious son, Gov Seyi Makinde, the book would be presented to the Governor soon.
While commending the book and its initiative, Gov Makinde’s elder brother and head of Aigbofa’s compound, Makinde’s family compound in Ibadan, Barrister Olumuyiwa Makinde who is also the Jagun Olubadan of Ibadan land hailed the author and described the gesture as one which the Makinde family would forever appreciate.
It was gathered that the book would soon be received by Gov Makinde who has been occupied with the just concluded National Convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as the Secretary of the Convention Planning Committee.
