President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the appointment of the former Commissioner for Home Affairs in Lagos State, Dr Abdul Hakeem Abdul Lateef new Chairman of the board of the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC). The letter conveying the appointment was released on Monday, 9 January, 2023, from the parent ministry, the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning. The appointment is for a four year term. The last appointment was made on 9 December, 2018.

A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Yaba, Lagos, has remanded a 49-year-old man, identified as Lawrence Itakpe, for stabbing his wife to death in Ajah area of the state It was gathered that the defendant killed his wife, Rebecca, 47, at their home on Monday, 5 December, 2022. The mother of Chief Executive Officer of Jaiz Charity and Development Foundation, Dr Abdullahi Shuaib, Hajiya Sefinat Shuaib is dead. The 80-year-old entrepreneur died in the early hours (around 1:15am) of Monday, 9 January, 2023 at the National Orthopedic Hospital, Igbobi in Lagos due to age and comorbidity. A young mother-of-five has died allegedly after she was beaten by her husband over a loaf of bread. The deceased, identified as Ogochukwu Anene, from Umuokpu village in Awka, Anambra State, was married to one Mr Ndubisi Wilson Uwadiegwu from Enugu state and their union was blessed with four sons and a daughter.
