Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Zulum has distributed food palliative to 12,200 vulnerable households living in Muna, Custom and Ngwom communities. According to a statement by the Governor’s spokesman, Isa Gusau, at least 73,200 persons will benefit as each of the 12,200 households is made up of six persons. Gusau said the palliative distribution was to ease the hardship from the removal of the fuel subsidy. He disclosed that the 12,200 beneficiaries comprised of 7,000 male- heads of households and 5,200 female-heads of households. Tragedy occurred over the weekend in Oyo State as two members of the Nigeria Referees Association (NRA) in Oyo State, Rafiu Opeyemi and Ibikunle Abiodun, were reported dead. It was gathered that the deaths of the two referees occurred within 24 hours. A 35-year-old electrician, Sunday Andrew has been arraigned before a Lugbe Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, presided over Aliyu Kagarko for allegedly stealing a plasma television and N18,000 cash. The police charged Andrew of Jedu, Airport Road Abuja, with criminal trespass, house breaking and theft. A lady identified as Hafsa Musa has been remanded in a correctional centre by the order of a Kano State Sharia Court sitting in Gama PRP for allegedly stabbing a man, Buhari Mikail, with a pair of scissors. Kwara State Government has confirmed receipt of N2 billion out of the N4 billion relief funds that the Federal Government released for purchase of rice to be distributed en masse to vulnerable members of the public in the state.
