The House of Representatives through its Public Accounts Committee has recovered ₦28.7 billion from two oil companies indebted to the Federation Account. House spokesman, Akin Rotimi, in a statement, stated that the Committee is currently investigating 45 oil companies collectively owing the Federal Government $1.7 billion in outstanding liabilities, as contained in the Audit Report released by the Office of the Auditor General of the Federation for the 2021 financial year. Nigeria’s annual headline inflation eased to 23.18% in February, the country’s statistics agency said on Monday, 17 March, 2025 a month after it rebased its Consumer Price Index to reflect changes in consumption patterns. The House of Representatives Committee on Finance has recommended the exemption of military personnel from personal income tax in Nigeria. The Chairman of the Committee, James Abiodun Faleke announced the proposal on Thursday, 13 March, 2025 during a clause-by-clause review of four tax bills forwarded to the parliament by President Bola Tinubu in October 2024. Addressing the session, Faleke stated, “Mr. Speaker, honourable colleagues, the committee has proposed that the personal income of military personnel should be exempted from tax.
