The Lagos State Ministry of Health has released the names of two passengers on board the Turkish Airline flight which brought the Italian who imported coronavirus into the country, declaring them  wanted. At a press briefing on Monday, 9 March, 2020, Akin Abayomi, state Commissioner for Health, gave their names as Enwelunta Obumnore Godfrey and Salami Abiodun Sadeeq. President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan has called on managers and administrators of education in the country to consider a review of the curricula in educational institutions at all levels. Lawan made the suggestion on Monday, 9 March, 2020 while declaring open a public hearing on three bills seeking to establish three Federal educational institutions. The Chairman of Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hon. Governor  Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano state has approved the appointment of Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero as the 15th Emir of Kano in the ruling Fulani dynasty. Operatives of the Economic and financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, have arrested one Oladimeji Olusegun Ogunfolaju, owner of Lakers Hotel and Lake County Entertainment  in Lagos, and 79 others for allegedly involving in internet fraud. The suspects were arrested during a special operation on the hotel on 29, Ebute-Igbogbo Road, Ikorodu, Lagos on Saturday, March 7, 2020, following over three months of intensive surveillance and intelligence gathering by the Commission about their alleged criminal activities. The Academic Staff Union of Universities on Monday declared a two-week warning strike against non-payment of salaries of lecturers not enrolled in the Federal Government’s Integrated Personnel and Payroll Information System. National President of the union, Biodun Ogunyemi, who read the declaration after the ASUU National Executive Council meeting held in Enugu, said the warning strike takes effect today, March 9. Emir of Kano, Malam Muhammadu Sanusi ll has been dethroned over disrespect to the office of the Governor and other government agencies. The Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Usman Alhaji, said the removal was with immediate effect. The emir’s action violated the part 3 section A-E of Kano state law, hence the removal. Police in Kano State have confirmed the death of four family members in an accident involving a trailer belonging to a cement manufacturing company and a motorcycle at Dorayi Quarters in Kano city. Police spokesman DSP Abdullahi Haruna who confirmed the incident said the victims included a 40 year old father, Muhammad Sagir, his wife and their two children. The Nigerian government on Monday, 9 March, 2020, confirmed the second case of novel coronavirus in the country. The Minister of Health, Dr Osagie Ehanire, said at a press conference in Benin City, Edo State, that the new patient had contact with the Italian man who was first infected. “It is my duty, therefore, to announce a new case of coronavirus disease (CIVID-19) in Nigeria,” Ehanire said.
